Softball Recap: Skyview Comes Up Short

Skyview dropped their record down to 11-14 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Middleton Vikings, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-3 loss back in April.

Ella McMullen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Middleton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Middleton, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Middleton's side, Libby Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Garcia has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Middleton let Natalie Miklancic and Rylee Rodriguez run wild. Miklancic went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Rodriguez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That's the most doubles Miklancic has posted since back in March. Sadie Stafford was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Skyview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Middleton, they will take on Bishop Kelly at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season.
