Baseball Game Preview: Red Bud Musketeers vs. Alton Redbirds

The Red Bud Musketeers will head out on the road to challenge the Alton Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Red Bud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Red Bud came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-2 to Breese Central. The Musketeers have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Red Bud saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadin Voss, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Alton not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 10-0). They blew past Chaminade 8-1. The win was familiar territory for the Redbirds, who have now won three contests in a row.

Alton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Red Bud, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
