Baseball Recap: Hoxie Comes Up Short

Hoxie had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it nine. They came up short against the Walnut Ridge Bobcats, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

As for Walnut Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.

For Walnut Ridge's part, JAGGER BRADY spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. BRADY has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on TJ OWENS, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. JAXTON BRADY also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Hoxie will welcome Crowley's Ridge Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Walnut Ridge, they will square off against Osceola at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
