            Softball Recap: West Branch Warriors vs. Marlington Dukes        
        
		
        
        
            West Branch came out on top against Marlington  on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Dukes  9-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  5-0  two weeks ago.

 Klary McKay and  Ellie Tucker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  McKay   struck out 12 batters over  six innings while giving up  six earned  (and one unearned) runs off   ten  hits. Meanwhile,  Tucker   pitched one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Those  12  strikeouts gave  McKay a new career-high. At bat,  McKay  went 2-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI, while  Tucker  went 2-for-4 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news, West Branch got a big performance out of  Josie Milliken, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run. That  home run marked the first that  Milliken has  launched this season. Another player making a difference was  Addi Craven, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases and two  RBI.
 West Branch  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least 11  hits in three consecutive  matches.
West Branch's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Marlington, their loss  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 8-4.
 West Branch didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  4-2  win against Alliance on the 1st. As for Marlington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  contest,  an  8-4  victory against Minerva on the 1st.
