Duchesne extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping them up to 26-4. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Dominic Crusaders a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since April 15th.

Not much got past T.J. Griese, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep St. Dominic off the board. Griese has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Duchesne's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Nikodym, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Another was James Andrews, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for St. Dominic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-9. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

On St. Dominic's side, Noah Price was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest hits Price has allowed over his last three contests.

Coming up, Duchesne is taking a road trip to challenge Clayton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pioneers 3.2, the Greyhounds 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for St. Dominic, they will welcome Vianney at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
