Baseball Game Preview: Villa Grove Blue Devils vs. Okaw Valley Timberwolves

Villa Grove hasn't had much luck against Okaw Valley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. Villa Grove will be strutting in after a victory while Okaw Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Villa Grove's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Heritage. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Zane Hosler's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Villa Grove is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Hayden Drake was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Max Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Okaw Valley suffered their biggest defeat since March 21st on Friday. They lost 15-3 to Morrisonville.

Okaw Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Villa Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
