Volleyball Recap: Colusa Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cecelia Mitchum and Marlie Berry + How To Watch

If Colusa was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Williams on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The RedHawks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pierce Bears on Thursday. The RedHawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Colusa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-19.

Colusa's loss came despite strong showings from Marlie Berry and Cecelia Mitchum. Berry had ten digs, while Mitchum had 22 digs, ten kills, and one block. Mitchum is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Colusa's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-8. As for Pierce, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Colusa will square off against rival East Nicolaus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pierce is set to face off against their familiar foe Paradise at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
