Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for East Lincoln

East Lincoln came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the North Iredell Raiders by a score of 62-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-36 back in January.

East Lincoln's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taniyah Thomas, who went 9-for-15 en route to 26 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Thomas has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 24 times she's played. Emma Montanari was another key player, going 8-for-15 to rack up 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

East Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 54 consecutive games dating back to last season.

East Lincoln pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for North Iredell, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lincoln will square off against North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 21 contests. As for North Iredell, they will face off against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Iredell is facing West Iredell at the right time seeing as West Iredell is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
