Basketball Recap: West Anchorage Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Dimond

On Friday, West Anchorage faced Dimond in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The West Anchorage Eagles fell to the Dimond Lynx 59-55. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Lynx recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Dimond got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Hamey out in front who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Hamey is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sienna Pederson, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

West Anchorage's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Dimond, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

West Anchorage has already played their next matchup, a 65-62 victory against Service on the 8th. As for Dimond, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-37 loss against Bartlett on the 8th.
