Baseball Recap: Westfield Area Comes Up Short

Westfield Area had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-15 to make it five. They fell 3-0 to the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

As for Melrose-Mindoro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Melrose-Mindoro's part, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Kleinsmith, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As of now, neither Westfield Area nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
