Basketball Game Preview: Woodstock Wolverines vs. Riverwood Raiders

Woodstock hasn't had much luck against Riverwood recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Woodstock Wolverines will get right back to it and host the Riverwood Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Woodstock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Riverwood likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Woodstock earned a 61-52 victory over Creekview. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Riverwood was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Tuesday as they fell 63-57 to Sprayberry.

Woodstock will have to contain Jr Leonard as he made an impact in Riverwood's last game. He went 11 of 26 on his way to 39 points. That was a full 68.4% of Riverwood's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Justin Stewart was another key player, putting up six points and 15 rebounds.

The victory got Woodstock back to even at 13-13. As for Riverwood, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.

Woodstock and Riverwood were neck-and-neck when the teams last played last Saturday, but Woodstock came up empty-handed after a 60-59 defeat. Can Woodstock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
