Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Comes Up Short

Gulf Pointe Latin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Santa Rosa Christian. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Santa Rosa Christian this season, with their most recent defeat being a 53-32 loss back in January.

Gulf Pointe Latin lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rebekah Thompson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Lothringer, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gulf Pointe Latin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive games.

Gulf Pointe Latin's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Santa Rosa Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Gulf Pointe Latin nor Santa Rosa Christian have any future games scheduled.
