Basketball Recap: Culver Academies Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Culver Academies and Highland squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Culver Academies had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Highland Trojans by a score of 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since December 16, 2023.

It was another big night for Jordan Steele, who almost dropped a double-double with 35 points and nine steals for Highland. That makes it 25 consecutive games in which Steele has scored at least a third of Highland's points. Another player making a difference was Addyson Figueroa, who posted two points and three steals.

Culver Academies' defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Highland, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-10.

Culver Academies does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland, they will square off against Columbia City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Columbia City will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Highland surely won't give up without a fight.
