Fountain Valley hasn't had much luck against Los Alamitos recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Barons will welcome the Griffins at 3:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fountain Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Corona del Mar on Tuesday. The Barons never let the Sea Kings get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Barons, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Mazy Ascasio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Randi Fortner looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Skyla Auger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Maldonado, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Fountain Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corona del Mar only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Los Alamitos had just enough and edged out Marina 3-2 on Tuesday.
Los Alamitos is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain Valley, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Fountain Valley might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Los Alamitos when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Barons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
