Basketball Recap: Gus Mills Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Waco

While Midway's victory against Waco wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-68 win over the Lions on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Midway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gus Mills out in front who shot 56% from the field en route to 16 points. That's the most points Mills has posted since back in November of 2024. Aryce Thibodeaux was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards.

Midway's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Waco, they dropped their record down to 3-2 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Midway will be taking part in a tournament against Georgetown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Waco, they will take on Wyatt in a tournament on Thursday.
