Recap: San Clemente Tritons vs. Mission Viejo Diablos
On Friday, The San Clemente Tritons faced the Mission Viejo Diablos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. San Clemente walked away with a 20-10 victory over Mission Viejo. The victory made it back-to-back wins for San Clemente.
Aiden Rubin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 238 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Rubin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Max (fernando) gonzales made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
San Clemente's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.8 points per game. As for Mission Viejo, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Clemente will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Capistrano Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 84th, while San Clemente is ranked 14th). As for Mission Viejo, they will head out on the road to face off against Tesoro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
