Volleyball Recap: Columbus Takes a Loss

Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mayville. If Columbus was looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to Mayville when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-18.

Mia Powers paced Columbus' offense, picking up six kills. Powers got some help from Macy Reetz and her 13 assists. Payton Dornaus controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Mayville, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-10.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Lake Mills on the 14th. As for Mayville, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Oconto on the 11th.
