Soccer Recap: Plainfield Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Plainfield duked it out with Cranford on Wednesday. The Cardinals lost 6-0 to the Cougars. While losing is never fun, Plainfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey soccer rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Cranford are ranked 24th).

Plainfield has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Cranford, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-2-1.

Plainfield and Cranford are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cardinals will square off against Westfield on Wednesday. As for Cranford, they will look to defend their home pitch on Wednesday against Millburn at 3:00 p.m.
