Basketball Recap: Caston Comes Up Short

Caston was the 37-36 winner over Tri-County when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Caston Comets were beaten by the Tri-County Cavaliers 45-17 on Thursday. The game marked the Comets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Caston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madisyn Douglass, who posted six points and five steals. That was a full 35.3% of Caston's points, marking the 15th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Hannah Arvin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tri-County, going 6 of 7 en route to 14 points and three steals. Arvin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Grace Luck was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Caston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Tri-County, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Caston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-21 win against Bethany Christian on the 17th. Tri-County has also already played their next match (against Clinton Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
