Volleyball Recap: Hartington-Newcastle Takes a Loss

Hartington-Newcastle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Creighton Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Hartington-Newcastle actually scored more points across those three sets (69-66), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-20, 26-24.

Hartington-Newcastle's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Creighton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Hartington-Newcastle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against St. Mary's on the 2nd. As for Creighton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Randolph at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
