Baseball Recap: Kalamazoo Christian Wins Going Away Against Portage Central

Kalamazoo Christian had won three straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped their record up to 10-2 to make it four. They blew past the Portage Central Mustangs 9-3. The Comets not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 13-0).

As for Portage Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

For Portage Central's part, they got a good showing from Cam Schultz, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Schultz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kai Torre was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Aleric Piper also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Kalamazoo Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against Portage Central: the pair will be back at it again later today.
