Softball Game Preview: Enka Jets vs. Pisgah Bears

The Enka Jets will head out to face off against the Pisgah Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Enka will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.

Enka's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against North Buncombe by a score of 3-0.

Meanwhile, Pisgah got the win against East Henderson on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sadie Messer looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylee Campbell and Savannah Dickerson did most of the damage at the plate: Campbell went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Dickerson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Campbell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mack Jones, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Pisgah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Enka, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1.

Enka couldn't quite get it done against Pisgah in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
