Baseball Recap: Dixon Has No Trouble Against Richlands

Dixon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Richlands on Thursday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 7-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Chris Tesgle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dixon got a big performance out of Shawn Almeida, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Almeida has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Luke Vincent, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Dixon's record now sits at 9-10. As for Richlands, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixon will head out to challenge Wilmington Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Richlands, they will venture away from home to take on West Carteret at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
