Softball Recap: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Takes a Loss

Our Lady of Mount Carmel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Park School Bruins. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Erin Martin put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Ava Libercci made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Mya Whitlock was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Park School, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will face off against Concordia Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Park School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Friends at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
