Softball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Apopka Blue Darters

The First Academy Royals are taking a road trip to face off against the Apopka Blue Darters at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, The First Academy made easy work of Mount Dora Christian Academy and carried off a 9-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Isabella Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Sullivan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Elissa Moore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, while Apopka put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Lake Buena Vista. The Blue Darters put the hurt on the Vipers with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Darters as they're now sitting on five straight.

The First Academy now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Apopka, their record now sits at 15-4.

The First Academy suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Apopka when the teams last played back in March of 2017. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
