Baseball Recap: Liberty Triumphs

Liberty owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They came out on top against the Heritage Patriots by a score of 4-0. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Salvador Sandoval tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Liberty is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Liberty let Colton Aleman and Brandon Ansell run wild. Aleman went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Ansell went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Ansell a new career-high.

Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Heritage, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Liberty will welcome Cornerstone Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to take on Arlington at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
