Douglas County West has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the Fort Calhoun Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Douglas County West was able to grind out a solid victory over Mercy, taking the game 2-0.
Douglas County West never let Mercy on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 26-24.
Meanwhile, everything went Fort Calhoun's way against Cornerstone Christian School on Monday as Fort Calhoun made off with a 3-0 win.
While Fort Calhoun won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14, 25-23.
Fort Calhoun can attribute much of their success to Sophie Weeks, who had five digs and three aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Fort Calhoun was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2023.
