Recap: Anson vs. Parkwood

The Anson Bearcats were the 55-33 winner over the Parkwood Wolf Pack when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Anson's rough 70-50 loss to Parkwood on Monday might stick with them for a while. Anson found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.

Anson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tatiyana Burns, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Burns is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Za?kiyah Hixson, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

It was another big night for Kayl Starnes, who scored 28 points along with five steals for Parkwood. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Starnes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katrina Meyre, who scored 14 points along with seven steals.

Anson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Parkwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.

Anson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Parkwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Parkwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
