Rabun County has gone a perfect 6-0 against Oglethorpe County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rabun County has seven straight wins, Oglethorpe County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Rabun County faced off against Commerce on Friday. The Wildcats claimed a resounding 55-28 victory over the Tigers. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Reid Giles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 243 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per carry, and also catching one score. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. Another rusher making a difference was Lake Evans, who rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rabun County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 396 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Giles, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Oglethorpe County played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Athens Academy, falling 43-21. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Spartans are ranked 126th).
Rabun County will have to contain O'Maury Huggs as he made an impact in Oglethorpe County's last game. He rushed for 88 yards and one TD on only five carries. Huggs' longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Rabun County's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Oglethorpe County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Rabun County has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 412.7 total yards per game. It's a different story for Oglethorpe County, though, as they've been averaging only 199.2 total yards. Will Rabun County be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Patriots flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Rabun County against Oglethorpe County when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 victory. In that matchup, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 35-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
