The Yucaipa Thunderbirds will challenge the Glendora Tartans at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Yucaipa is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Serra by a score of 6-3.
Logan Pashman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jason Franco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Andrew Zarate was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Glendora was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Citrus Valley.
Brayden Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Glendora saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Grable, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. Another was Aiden Yamazaki, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Glendora's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Yucaipa, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Yucaipa was able to grind out a solid win over Glendora when the teams last played back in May of 2018, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
