Basketball Game Preview: Biloxi Indians vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes

The Biloxi Indians will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Laurel Golden Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Biloxi humbled Pascagoula with a 63-10 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Biloxi's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Na'Kenya Terry led the charge by putting up eight points along with ten steals and five assists. Those ten steals gave Terry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Carriere, who posted 17 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Laurel on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Hattiesburg out of the water with a 73-28 final score. Fans of the Golden Tornadoes have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Laurel's win came from a few key players Biloxi will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jahyla Dubose, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. Dubose is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Gracelyn Carmichael was another key player, shooting 62% from the field to rack up 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Biloxi, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
