Basketball Recap: Caynen Abittan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake Mead Christian Academy over White Pine

Lake Mead Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 62-52 to the White Pine Bobcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-35 last Friday.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caynen Abittan, who went 9 for 22 en route to 25 points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Kellner, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lake Mead Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

White Pine got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mo Van Tassell out in front who went 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points and six boards. What's more, Van Tassell also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Matt Thompson was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 19 points.

Lake Mead Christian Academy's record is now 3-13. As for White Pine, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Lake Mead Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 68-44 loss against Lincoln County on the 1st. As for White Pine, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-44 defeat against GV Christian on the 1st.
