Football Game Preview: Eldorado Firehawks vs. Moapa Valley Pirates

Eldorado hasn't had much luck against Moapa Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eldorado Firehawks will challenge the Moapa Valley Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Eldorado will be strutting in after a victory while Moapa Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Eldorado turned things around against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Friday. They secured an 18-13 W over the Blue Knights.

Eldorado found their leader in sophomore Aerith Sanchez, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Sanchez's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked her eighth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Moapa Valley faced Desert Oasis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Moapa Valley was beaten by Desert Oasis 49-6. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Moapa Valley now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Eldorado, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Eldorado suffered a grim 32-12 defeat to Moapa Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Moapa Valley's Summer Katich, who threw for 197 yards and four touchdowns. Now that Eldorado knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
