Softball Recap: Sterling Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Sterling won the last time they faced Rock Falls and things went their way on Friday too. The Golden Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Rockets. The result was nothing new for the Golden Warriors, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Marley Sechrest was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lily Cantu, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sterling kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Sterling has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Rock Falls, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sterling will welcome Kewanee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rock Falls, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Boone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
