Basketball Recap: Pocahontas Comes Up Short

Pocahontas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newell-Fonda Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Mustangs are ranked 97th).

Pocahontas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Newell-Fonda, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocahontas will face off against Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newell-Fonda, they will take on Gehlen Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
