Football Recap: St. Francis Borgia Piles Up the Points Against Wright City + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Francis Borgia had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Wright City Wildcats 45-14. Considering the Knights have won three matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lane Mallinckrodt was his usual excellent self, throwing for 202 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of St. Francis Borgia's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise.

St. Francis Borgia's run defense was locked in: Wright City could only muster 0.5 yards per carry. The Knights' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaveon Schulte, who picked up 135 receiving yards and one touchdown. Schulte really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Dayton Humphreys, who threw for 253 yards and a pair of TDs.

St. Francis Borgia now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wright City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

St. Francis Borgia will square off against St. Clair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. Wright City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
