Softball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends University's Winning Streak

University has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.75 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell 11-7 to the Northwood Timberwolves. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Jessica Hu and Alexandra McBride stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hu scored a run while going 3-for-4, while McBride went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Sophia Weinberg, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

University's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Northwood, their record now sits at 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University will head out to take on Ocean View at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ocean View has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.85 runs per game on average), something University will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northwood, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Woodbridge at 3:30 p.m. on April 9.
