Softball Recap: Patton Panthers vs. Polk County Wolverines

After a string of three wins, Patton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Polk County Wolverines by a score of 4-3. Patton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Polk County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Tuesday.

Marleigh Carswell put in work no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Carswell has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Carswell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Carswell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kara Redwine, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Patton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Polk County, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Patton is on the road again on Monday to play Chase at 7:30 p.m. As for Polk County, they will square off against East Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Rutherford is coming into the matchup with three straight victories at home, so Polk County will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
