Basketball Recap: Gavin Winfrey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Providence Academy over Cocke County

Providence Academy lost against Cocke County back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Providence Academy fell 64-59 to Cocke County. The loss put an end to Providence Academy's undefeated start to the season.

Providence Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Winfrey, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 20 points. Another player making a difference was Luke Gilmer, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Providence Academy fell to 2-1. As for Cocke County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Providence Academy will challenge Volunteer at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cocke County, they have already played their next matchup, a 78-71 victory against Daniel Boone on the 24th.
