Basketball Recap: Israel Wright Key Part of Team Effort in Blazers Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bethesda Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-56 win over the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils. 64 seems to be a good number for the Blazers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bethesda Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Israel Wright, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 14 boards. The game was Wright's fourth in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Franky Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Bethesda Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charleston Collegiate only three offensive rebounds.

Charleston Collegiate's loss came despite strong showings from Grant Morrison and Thomas Reed. Morrison went 6-for-14 en route to 20 points along with seven assists and five steals, while Reed went 10-for-18 on his way to 24 points. Charleston Collegiate is 13-6 when Morrison posts five or more steals, but 2-4 otherwise.

Bethesda Academy now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Charleston Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Bethesda Academy has already played their next match, a 73-58 loss against Andrew Jackson Academy on the 20th. Charleston Collegiate does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
