Basketball Recap: Suncoast Skates Past Wellington with Ease

Suncoast had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 31-point drubbing they dealt Wellington on Tuesday. The Suncoast Chargers really took it to the Wellington Wolverines for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-38 win. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 31 points or more this season.

Suncoast had a senior duo take command as Philleah Bright almost dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists and Nekeria Sutton went 9 of 19 en route to 21 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bright has scored all season. Keyanna Goss was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 13 points.

Suncoast was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

When it comes to explaining why Wellington lost, don't look at Jazmin Jezewski. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points. The dominant performance gave Jezewski a new career-high in points.

Suncoast's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Wellington, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.

Suncoast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 86-17 win against Forest Hill on the 16th. Wellington has also already played their next match, a 65-13 loss against Seminole Ridge on the 16th.
