Volleyball Recap: Lake Weir Comes Up Short on the Road Against Vanguard

Lake Weir had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Vanguard Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hurricanes of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Lake Weir was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Vanguard's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-20.

Kadance Reeves was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 18 assists and five aces. That's the most assists she has posted since back in October of 2024. Vani Patel was another key player, getting four digs and three aces.

The win got Vanguard back to even at 1-1.

Lake Weir didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Dunnellon on the 21st. As for Vanguard, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Belleview on the 21st.
