Baseball Recap: Timberlake Takes a Loss

Timberlake had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 14-11 to make it four. They fell 15-10 to the Fairview Yellowjackets. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellowjackets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Payton Pierce was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Fairview, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Fairview's side, Gavin Ewing made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ewing has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fairview let Haddon Miller and Boden Miller run wild. Haddon went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Boden got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Haddon has become a key player for Fairview: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sutton Hayes, who earned two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Timberlake will challenge Kremlin-Hillsdale at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairview, they will be playing at home against Oklahoma Bible at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
