Baseball Game Preview: Sonoma Valley Dragons vs. Vacaville Bulldogs

Sonoma Valley is 0-4 against Vacaville since May of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Sonoma Valley Dragons will venture away from home to square off against the Vacaville Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. The last four games Sonoma Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sonoma Valley's offense. They fell just short of Maria Carrillo by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Dragons were not able to get on the board.

Sonoma Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was River Gilardi, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Vacaville not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Wood a 7-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

The result came thanks to Dallas West's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caden Whitten was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Diego Corneliuz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Sonoma Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Vacaville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Sonoma Valley couldn't quite get it done against Vacaville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can Sonoma Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
