Volleyball Recap: Coronado's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday + How To Watch

After flying high against Christian on Monday, Coronado came back down to earth. The Islanders fell 3-1 to the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots on Wednesday. The Islanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pilots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Coronado started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18.

Ashlynn Proctor paced Coronado's offense, picking up 26 kills. Proctor got some help from Brooke Proctor and her 32 assists. Finally, Angelique Bernard kept Coronado's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Amanda Guzman was a one-woman wrecking crew For Academy of Our Lady of Peace. as she had 34 digs. Those 34 digs gave Guzman a new career-high. Dylan Wilson also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

The defeat snapped Coronado's winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 23-3 record. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Coincidentally, Coronado and Academy of Our Lady of Peace will both be playing Scripps Ranch the next time they take the court. The Pilots will head out to face the Falcons at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Islanders will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
