Preview: Cheraw Braves vs. Chesterfield Golden Rams
Cheraw is 0-10 against the Golden Rams since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cheraw Braves will look to defend their home court against the Chesterfield Golden Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cheraw waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 67-27 victory over Central. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-11.
It was another big night for My'Shauna Worrell, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sa'Nya Murray, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Chesterfield's strategy against the Patriots on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Chesterfield blew the Patriots out of the water with a 61-19 final score. Chesterfield pushed the score to 53-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had no chance of recovering from.
Cheraw now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Chesterfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Cheraw took a serious blow against the Golden Rams in their previous meeting back in January, falling 72-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chesterfield's Kierra Diggs, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds. Now that Cheraw knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
