Preview: Brookhaven Panthers vs. Provine Rams
Brookhaven has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Provine Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Brookhaven had to settle for a 24-21 loss against Florence.
Meanwhile, Provine was able to grind out a solid win over South Jones two Thursdays ago, taking the game 18-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Provine.
Provine can attribute much of their success to DEONTAE BANKS, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown. BANKS was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. DAMON GOSS made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Brookhaven's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 McComb and 5-1 Northwest Rankin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.9% over those games). As for Provine, their win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 5-2.
Brookhaven was able to grind out a solid victory over Provine in their previous meeting back in October of 2016, winning 13-0. Will Brookhaven repeat their success, or does Provine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
