Basketball Recap: Anderson-Shiro Takes a Loss

Anderson-Shiro lost against Onalaska back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls received a blow as they fell 81-65 to the Onalaska Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 830th, while the Wildcats are ranked 407th).

Onalaska's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dante Leleux, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Spencer Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Anderson-Shiro is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Onalaska, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-5.

Anderson-Shiro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-47 loss against New Waverly on the 24th. As for Onalaska, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-71 win against Coldspring-Oakhurst on the 24th.
