Volleyball Recap: Woodland Cardinals vs. St. Vincent Indians

After flying high against Kelly last Wednesday, Woodland came back down to earth. The Woodland Cardinals fell 3-1 to the St. Vincent Indians on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on October 7th.

The final score came out to 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Woodland saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ella Cook had 18 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Cook is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

Brie Rubel was nothing short of spectacular for St. Vincent: she had 24 digs and four aces. Rubel has been hot , having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played.

With the defeat, Woodland broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-15. As for St. Vincent, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-8-5.

Woodland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Vincent, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Scott City on the 26th.
