Summit Academy scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Mountain View Bruins, falling 18-5. The defeat leaves the Bears still looking for their first win of the season.

Cooper Derbidge was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Derbidge was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Derbidge wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Talin Hill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Summit Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mountain View, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mountain View beat Summit Academy by a score of 5-0 on Thursday.
